DEBASHISH SANYAL BIOGRAPHY Debashish Sanyal was born on May 28th 1969, into an established family of musicians from Varanasi. His father Shri Manindranath Sanyal, an accomplished tabla player, recognized his son’s talent easily and intiated him into the world of music at the age of four.Demonstrating a solid rhythimic development and an intuitive grasp of the spiritual nature of Indian classical music, young Debashish soon began to show a pronounced interest in Sitar after two years of Tabla instruction. The decision was clear, the young boy should study sitar under Dr. Ram Das Chakravarty, the most well known and eminent player of the Seneya Gharana (Most famous Sitar playing style in India). When Debashish’s father handed his young son over to Dr. Chakravarty, he undoubtedly opened the door to what would become a successful and spiritually rewarding career in music. Under Dr. Chakravarty guidance, Debashish’s musical intuition blossomed into a detailed knowledge of the structure, moods and principles of the different Ragas in the Hindustani system of North Indian Music. Debashish Sanyal’s musical accomplishment in his early 20’s earned him a substantial reputation, only a decade later, national and international audiences are having the pressure of coming face with a devoted and talented artiste whose performances demonstrate an ever-deepening exploration of the musician’s potential. Recently he is following the IMDADKAHNI GHARANA (School of sitar) style. Which is most popular sitar style in India now days. Debashish Sanyal’s unique tonal spectrum reveals his motive to create highly personalized style. His versatility is reflected in the multitude of right hand strokes, imitating the tonal variety of lips and tongue, ultimately recreating the utterance of the entire mouth with his instrument. The freeting left hand, employing a wide pulling range, produces a sensation of melodic breathing, thus combining percussive utterance and melody to emulate the dynamics of the human voice. Debashish Sanyal’s Sitar appears to be singing. Having travelled and performed extensively in Europe & Asia. Debashish Sanyal has captured the minds of music lovers abroad.Debashish Sanyal has performed throughout the length and breadth of the country in almost all top classical concerts.He is a graded sitar artist in All India Radio and Television in India. He is traveld intensively Europe, South America, Japan and many Asain country. Also he is participated an many Indian and International Festivals,(As follows) Jerusalem Music Festival (ISRAEL), 50th Indian Independence Day Festaval (FRANCE), Asian Music Festival (SWEDEN), Danish Folk Music Festival (DENMARK), Rainbow Festival (MALAYSIA), Bregenze Musik and Drama Festaval (AUSTRIA) etc.
